Terms of Service

These terms are a contract between you and Virtus Solutions ("we", "us"), the operator of vs-warehouse (the "Service"). By signing up or using the Service, you agree to them. If you don't, please don't use the Service.

1. The service

vs-warehouse is a HTTP API and web dashboard providing access to publicly-available statistical and geospatial datasets from sources including Stats NZ, the OECD, RBNZ, MBIE, LINZ, Stats NZ Geospatial, Waka Kotahi (NZTA), NZ Treasury, MSD, NZ Police / MoJ, ACC, and others as we add them. We don't claim ownership of the underlying data; we provide a unified, queryable interface to it.

Each dataset is sourced from its primary publisher and is generally licensed under CC BY 4.0 or similar. You are responsible for crediting the original source in any work you publish that uses our API.

2. Plans & payment

• Free: 10 API requests per month, 50,000-row response cap. No card required.
• Starter: NZD $10/month, 100 API requests per month, 50,000-row cap.
• Pro: NZD $49/month, unlimited requests, no row cap, Snowflake share access.

Paid plans are billed monthly via Stripe. Prices are quoted in NZD inclusive of GST where applicable. We may adjust pricing with 30 days' email notice; changes take effect at your next billing cycle.

3. Cancellation & refunds

You can cancel any time via the billing portal in your dashboard. Cancellation takes effect immediately and you'll be moved to the Free plan; we don't pro-rate refunds on partial months.

If a payment fails (declined card, expired card, etc.), your account is downgraded to the Free plan straight away. You can resubscribe with a working card from your dashboard.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Share your API key publicly or with parties outside your organisation. One key per user.
• Attempt to circumvent rate limits or row caps via key rotation, multiple accounts, or any other means.
• Use the Service to attack, probe, or denial-of-service vs-warehouse or any third party.
• Resell raw API access or rebrand the Service. Building products that use vs-warehouse data is encouraged; reselling the API itself is not.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules. We'll usually email you first.

5. Data accuracy & availability

We pull from authoritative public sources and refresh regularly, but we don't guarantee that every value is current at the moment you query it. Always check the original source before making decisions that depend on the data being live.

We aim for 99% uptime but provide no formal SLA on the Free / Starter plans. For Pro, contact us if you need SLA-backed availability.

6. Liability

The Service is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties (express or implied) and limit our total liability to you for any matter arising from these terms to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited under the NZ Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or Fair Trading Act 1986.

7. Changes

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we'll email you at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the new terms.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. The courts of New Zealand have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
